Back in October 2016 RMI were approached by Cllr Michael Hill, Deputy Mayor of Holt Town Council to assist with developing an initiative for a ‘Holt Owl Trail’ in the historic town of Holt in North Norfolk. The Holt Owl Trail would provide a circular walk following a series of numbered plaques around the town centre. Already a popular shopping and visitor destination it is hoped the trail will enable people to discover more about the town’s fascinating past. Cley based wildlife artist Robert Gillmor designed the logo for the bronze plaques, which feature the town’s owl mascot.
After a great deal of planning the work finally got underway in December 2017 to install the plaques. A total of 24 locations for the trail including St Andrew’s Church, Spout Hills country park and the town’s many yards. In addition to pavement plaques, the trail will also be followed using a booklet and smartphone app. Information boards are planned to be put up in the town’s car parks advertising the trail to visitors.
